People invest huge amounts of resources in order to stay on track within selected paradigm with no regards towards its ideals,  its truthfulness or moral repercussions of that same paradigm just because they identify themselves with it. Every deviation would imply an attack on self perceived integrity of that individual, thus making revolution within one self very difficult.
