  1. Well, that would be a positive spiritual spin on the fact of causal necessity. A negative spiritual spin would be that every event was doomed to occur. The spiritually neutral expression is that events are reliably caused by prior events. Luckily, we happen to get a choice as to which events we will cause.

  2. And our choice is determined by experiences we had. Thus, if the situation was to be repeated in that exact time frame, with exact past experiences up to that time frame, the person in question would make the same choice. There is not possibility in any way for that person to make a different choice due to factors present in that exact moment. How are you not getting this…

  3. Our choice is most significantly caused by the experience we’re having as we go about choosing. Recalling the prior experience is a current experience. It is us, now, doing it.

Oh, and anytime you use the word “possibility” you are resetting the context to the beginning of a choosing operation, where we have more than one possibility and the ability to chose something else.

When you roll back the clock, to the beginning of the choosing operation, you once again have multiple possibilities and the ability to choose each option.

If you don’t, then you break the process, and you get something like this:

Waiter (a free will skeptic): “What will you have for dinner tonight, Sir?
Customer: “I don’t know. Tell me, what are my possibilities?”
Waiter: “There is only one possibility, Sir.”
Customer (disappointed): “Oh. Okay. Then what is that option?”
Waiter: “How should I know? I’m not a mind reader!”
